Meet the Team

Our Mission

At the heart of our community is a historic Downtown Square, a one-of-a-kind scene steeped in culture with plenty of stories to be told. Through the years, since its founding in the mid-1800s, many of the beautiful buildings in the city's original business sector have been lovingly preserved and restored. They are now home to talented local chefs, artisans and business owners ready to welcome you into the best restaurants, markets and shops in Texas. To that end, we have made it our mission to share the delicious flavors and rich culture of our town, one bite and one block at a time. Our leisurely walk will satisfy the local foodie and history buff as well as first-time visitors. We can't get enough of McKinney's Main Street character and charm. We love it and we know you will, too!

Meet the Founder

Tricia Scruggs is a foodie with a passion for travel, especially when there's a beach involved. On a girls' trip to the Caribbean she was inspired to create a food walking tour. After years of dreaming and planning, Tricia founded We Ate Well Food Tours in 2017 in her beautiful hometown of McKinney.

Prior to launching the tours, Tricia spent more than a decade as a newspaper journalist. She got her start covering local government and community events for The McKinney Courier-Gazette, the city's oldest newspaper. It was at that time she fell in love with the historic and charming town square. In We Ate Well Food Tours, Tricia has found the perfect blend of her passions and is happy to be telling stories again, this time through food.

On my plate: Shrimp & Grits

In my cup: Chai Tea Latte or an Arnold Palmer
